Keyword Targeting, Density, and Cannibalization – Whiteboard Friday

Keyword Targeting, Density.

Keyword targeting is an essential part of online marketing, but not in the way we use before. Google is smart nowadays, and we have to keep ourselves update with the Google algorithm.

We are going to talk about keyword density, targeting, and cannibalization.

One must know about Google updates like Hummingbird because strategies changed in todays practice for keyword targeting.

Search Engines have evolved more advance with the keyword targeting process and give rakings to quality content, not the number of keywords.

If we search something any keyword in google, we will find different results on the first page. If you open these results, you may find that some pages are ranking and keyword appears only once in the content. The exciting thing is that there is no keyword targeting or density appear on the page.

These websites or pages don’t target keywords, again and again. They give clear information to users and do an excellent job of ranking. So keyword density or keyword targeting is not a matter in todays internet world.

In early times google rank websites that target keywords repeatedly in content, but Google doesn’t like repetition. We have to avoid stuffing a keyword in content if we want to rank in Google.

Don’t worry about how many times a keyword-targeted in a content. Just make sure that the keyword appears one time on a page or may b two times. That’s enough. You can target more time if it makes sense in content for better user experience, for readability.

In Google No need to use keyword density to rank. If it makes any sense and reasonable to use keywords repeatedly to make the content better, then it’s ok we can.

For Google, it’s an old practice to use keyword density in content.

If there are 400 words and in a piece of content and keyword appears four times, then density is 1%, but if we put keyword repeatedly and density goes to 5%, it does not make any sense for Google this is useless. In the 90s, search engines work with keyword density, but it’s a practice that worked along time ago. Many SEO persons yet talk about keyword density and think it is an excellent way to do the best SEO practice.

The title is beneficial in SEO and a perfect place to target your keyword if this makes any understanding. Otherwise, don’t put your keyword in the title. Keyword at the start of title keyword must be in the first paragraph, or exact keyword match in the title all practics are old for google.

It is not necessary to put your keyword in h1, h2, h3 headings in on-page SEO. If we target our keyword in titles, it makes our content suitable, but there is a sense for the user. No worry if you don’t use keyword in headings google don’t care about it.

If a keyword appears in the heading and the user is not satisfied with your content and clicks back to the search engine. Google will push back you from rankings. Therefore we have to go for user engagement, not for keyword targeting.

We can use related terms in our content instead of the same keyword again and again. Our primary focus must b unique content that is providing some information that users can’t find anywhere else on the internet. Unique content means that text or content is providing unique value to the user.
